JADSON ANDRE WINS BILLABONG PRO SANTA CATARINA, BRAZIL

Jadson Andre may be Brazil’s new hope.Freshly ASP Dream Tour qualified, he already has  his sights set on the world title. However, these hopes seemed more than a little optimistic until April 29, 2010 when he shocked the surfing world by beating the former nine-time ASP World Champion, and current ASP World No. 1 Kelly Slater, claiming the Billabong Pro Santa Catarina.The tense final was determined by the incredibly small margin of .40. Andre, the World Tour rookie, was unstoppable throughout the competition systematically dismantling competitors, including Dane Reynolds in the quarterfinals, despite his 9.77 score for a massive backside 360 method air. The crucial win puts Andre at 4th place in the World Tour standings tied with the Aussie ripper Mick Fanning.

While you might expect the young Andre to spend the week after his monumental win celebrating, he will instead come straight off his win to surf in the Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro on May 4th, where he will come head to head with numerous World Tour surfers, many of which also happen to Lowers locals. The Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro, will serve as an impromptu battleground for surfers looking to gain key points and advance their present World Tour standings. With the stakes raised for the Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro, expect Andre and his competitors to go all out.
